FRANK W. CUNNINGHAM

Frank W. Cunningham was sworn into office as Westville's eleventh Mayor on January 1, 1957. He remained in office through May 12, 1970. The following people served as Councilmen during his tenure in office: Elmer H. Larson, Charles W. Stryzek, Harry L. Ingram, Evritt C. Tarpine, Thomas J. Baker and Paul Toth. In 1958, S. Marshall Burr replaced Mr. Tarpine. In 1960 William Hill replaced Mr. Ingram. In 1961 Francis J. Duer replaced Mr. Stryzek. In 1962, Harry V. Laskowski replaced Mr. Baker. In 1967, Charles E. Owens replaced Mr. Burr. On May 12, 1970, Charles Bakley replaced Mr. Hill. Harry L. Ingram served as Council President from 1957 through 1959. He was replaced by Thomas J. Baker in 1960. In 1962 Elmer H. Larson replaces Mr. Baker Mr. Larson served until Mayor Cunningham resigned in 1970. The following people were employed by the Borough of Westville during this time period:

In 1957, Westville had its first Civilian Defense and Disaster Director, flood lights were installed at the basketball court at the Little League , the Little League became officially known as "Hannold Park" and the following Boys and Girls participated in Youth Week; Mayor William Stites, Clerk-Beverly Bock, Judge-Edward Evans , Police Chief - Sandra Greeves , Fire Chief - William Long, Council Members - Joseph Tarpine, William Crumley , George Dunham, Dale Genter, Shirley Nute, and Kathy Bryant. In 1958, the playground at 5th and Woodbine was built by the Westville Civic Association. In 1959 the Babe Ruth League Baseball field was completed. In 1960 the Babe Ruth Field was dedicated, a borough garage was built along River Drive, and the Borough Hall had an office addition completed. In 1962 a basketball court was put in at the playground at 5th and Woodbine. In 1963, Westville held a Tuberculosis X-Ray Clinic, the Holloween Parade sponsored by the American Legion was marred by egg-throwing incident, the Stadium at the Babe Ruth Field was named "Tom Pallante Stadium", and the following Boys and Girls participated in Youth Week; Mayor - William Conaway, Clerk - Arleen Yager, Councilmembers - Bonnie Wood, Susan Ross, Rosemary Barici, Katie Donvan, Linda Taylor, Tax Collector - Susan Carl , Assessor - Diane Graves. In 1964, Westville Celebrated its' 50th Anniversary, a 9 P.M. curfew went into effect for children, and the following Boys and Girls participated in the Youth Week; Mayor - Barry Jesse, Clerk - Susan Myski, Police Chief - William Whinna, Fire Chief - Thomas Weinhardt , Judge - Richard Timmons , Tax Collector - Richard Bewsher ,Assessor - John Koenig, Lions President - Joseph LaPella , Tail Twister - Fred Spreng, Councilmembers - Diane Crawford , Janet Ellis, Joyce Holloway, Paulette Taylor, James Wilker, and Thomas Spera. In 1965, the following Boys And Girls participated in Youth Week; Mayor - Hans Van Brill - Clerk -Timothy Bennett, Tax Collector - Thomas Bennett, Assessor - Cindy Wisser , Council - Joanne Leahy, Jane Lucas, Richard Donaldson, Jackie Fortiner Sue Albright , Douglas Champion , Police Chief - Edward Carl, Fire Chief - William Purnell, Judgh - Bruce Webber , Lions President - Charles Wilkins, Lions Auxillary - Kathy Dorman, and Tail Twister - Richard Crawford. In 1966, the pond retaining wall needed fixing. In 1967, the Halloween Parade was sponsored by the American Legion. In 1968 the pond was dredge.
