WILFRED C. ORMORED

Wilfred C. Ormored was sworn into office as Westville's tenth Mayor on January 1, 1953. He remained in office through 1956. The following people served as Councilmen during his tenure as Mayor: George Roemer, George M. Thompson, W. Edward Pierce, Harry L. Ingram, Frank W. Cunningham, and Everitt C. Tarpine. In 1954 Thomas J. Baker replaced Mr. Roemer. The following people were employed by the Borough of Westville during this time period:

In 1953, a Memorial Fire Place was built in the park by the Boy Scouts, former Mayor Tarpine died, and a Halloween Parade was sponsored by the American Legion. On May 31, 1954, the Little League Field at Edgewater and Klinger opened. In 1955, traffic lights were installed at Olive and Gateway Blvd., the basketball court at the pond was blacktopped, a new water tank was built (with fire horns), the wall around the edge of the pond was repaired, the Lions Club stocked the pond with fish, former Mayor Quenzel died, and the Halloween Parade was sponsored by the American Legion sponsored a HALLOWEEN Parade, and the Lions Club sponsored the Fire Works on the 4th of July at the Pond.
